Coached by a Protea-Selected
Athlete & KZN's Strongest M1.

Amanda Wren Kobus is a Proteas-selected Master 1 athlete and KZN's strongest Master 1 competitor — currently ranked South Africa's third-strongest master athlete. She's also Director of the KwaZulu-Natal Powerlifting Association and a certified Coach and Referee under the South African Powerlifting Federation, bringing institutional knowledge and elite competitive experience to every strength session she leads. Her clinical background as a Registered Nurse Practitioner informs every training prescription — she understands the body not just as an athlete, but as a medical professional.

On the bodybuilding stage, Amanda competes at an elite level as an NPC Worldwide athlete — she won both the Bikini and Figure categories at the 2021 NPC Worldwide Jozi Regional Qualifier, one of the most competitive regional qualifiers on the South African calendar. A mother of three, she brings a deep understanding of the female body, real-world demands, and the mindset required to build strength around life's responsibilities.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked
Questions.

Is powerlifting only for people who want to compete?
No. Most clients train powerlifting purely for strength, body composition and long-term health — competition preparation is available for those who want it, but it's not required.
Do I need experience with the squat, bench and deadlift to start?
No. Coaching starts from the ground up with technical fundamentals, regardless of your current experience level, and builds from there.
Is powerlifting safe?
Yes, when coached properly. Sessions are led by Amanda Wren Kobus, a Registered Nurse Practitioner and SA Powerlifting Federation certified Coach and Referee, so programming and technique are built around your body and medical background.
Can I train powerlifting with a partner or in a group?
Yes. Alongside 1-on-1 personal training, couples training and small group training (groups of 5, 2x or 3x per week) are both available.
How much does powerlifting coaching cost?
Personal training starts from R300 per drop-in session, with monthly packages of 8 or 12 sessions. Couples training is R600 per session, and small group training runs R2,200–R3,300 per person per month.
